Crufts Qualified 2009 and 2010
Qualified BCCGB Pup of the year 2009

Diesel is a black and white border collie dog and was born on the 25th March 2008 (my birthday!). His dad is Incas brother, Rhett - Locheil Lickety Split, and his mum is Quinn - Dawn of Sun Loch Valley at Bryning IMP (Belgium) from Bryning Border Collies.

Diesel is very gung-ho about absolutely everything. He is always on the go, and usually with some description of toy in his mouth. As much as he loves to be doing things, he also loves to please which suits me just fine as I love training him. Hes the boy that never wants to grow up; playful and goofy at times. Hes the one still going at the end of the weekend when we're all exhausted after a show, hes the one who wakes us up at 7 in the morning by enticing one of the others to play, hes the one who has to grab his teddy bear on the way out the door.

Showing:

Diesel at EABCC Champ ShowDiesel made his showing debut aged 6 months at NWBCC Champ show. A few weeks later he qualified for Crufts (also qualiying for BCCGB pup of the year 2009) at Working & Pastoral Breeds Association of Scotland by coming 3rd in Minor Puppy (10, 0) and 2nd in Puppy.

Hes had a sucessful start to his showing career getting BPIB and Pastoral Puppy Group 3 at East Midlands Open show, BPIS at EABCC Open Show and then winning Minor Puppy (15, 3) at LKA the following weekend.

At the start of 2009 Diesel was sadly somewhat out of coat for Crufts. He qualified for Crufts 2010 at EABCC Champ show where he came 2nd in his Junior class. Not bad considering we'd only picked him up from kennels the day before.

In 2010 we only attended a couple shows at the start of the year. At Crufts he got RES out of 16 in the Good Citizen Class. At BCCoGB, his last ever breed show, he won the Agility Stakes class beating some strong competition including a show champion. He also went on to win the Chikaramor Versatility Award for the dog that did best in both agility and showing.

Agility:

Diesel training at RacingreddKC: Large Grade 6
BAA: Maxi Novice
UKA: Maxi Senior Steeplechase & Performance

Diesel started pre-agility classes at 5 months at RacingRedd with Wendy Clay and picked things up very quickly. He started competing at UKA Nationals in July 09 when he was just 16 months and 3 days old. He got his first clear round in Nursery on his first day, and went on to get 4 more clears and a 3rd in Beginners Steeplechase Maxi that same week. He won into Novice Steeplechase at UKA Thatcham whilst still under 18 months. His first KC Open Show was Suffolk 5 Rivers when was just 18 months and 1 day old. He got 2 clears and showed lots of potential.

Since then hes come along in leaps and bounds. At Spalding in October 2009, just over 18 months old, he came 3rd in a C1-3 agility class out of 240 qualifying for the Alpha Agility Final 2010. His BAA debut was fantastic with him winning into Primary in both agility and jumping in his first 3 competitions, obtaining four 1sts, four 2nds, a 4th and a 5th. Clever lad!

2010 was a great season. We won into Novice at BAA and Senior SC at UKA and have qualified in several finals along the way, including coming 2nd in the Alpha Agility Final held at Malvern. Just when I thought it was the end of the season D won into G4 by winning TWO G3 agility classes in one weekend, and then at our last agility show of year he won into G5 - go D!

2011 has started in the same fashion. He came 2nd in G5 agility at his first G5 show and then won into G6 at Hare'n'Hounds at the start of March.

Obedience Training :

Diesel passed his Bronze Good Citizen Test at the tender age of 16.5 weeks and passed Silver Test at 7 months.

I had planned to get him in the obedience ring in 2009 but somehow we never actually made it. We enjoy training still, perhaps on day we'll actually get to an obedience show!

Hes a video of him training at 6 months:
